Date Night in Pensacola, Florida for Military Families

Some people are big city folk, while others enjoy the open skies. You can find both sides of life when you're stationed in Pensacola! We all know how important time alone with your significant other is, but sometimes in this military life it gets hard to spend meaningful time together. Whether you are stationed at NAS Pensacola, or are an hour away at Eglin AFB or Hurlburt Field, I’ve put together a few ideas for your next Date Night in Pensacola.

4 fun ideas for date night in Pensacola

Brunch date in Pensacola

Head to downtown Pensacola to The Ruby Slipper for a delicious brunch. The Ruby Slipper’s original location is in New Orleans, and they’ve expanded to include a few more, including the Pensacola location. They have a weekday happy hour, in the mornings, great mimosas and the best Irish Coffee I’ve had in years.

They don’t take reservations, so make sure you have enough time to enjoy your meal, or show up early. My recommendation is to try the “Peacemaker” Benedict, where you can choose two of any of the fantastic eggs benedict combos on the menu. So yummy! Follow up your brunch with a stroll around downtown Pensacola, and maybe pop into a local shop or two.

Weekend getaway date from Pensacola

If you can swing a weekend away, or even just one overnight, check out Cold Water Gardens in nearby Milton, Florida. This beautiful and serene location offers several camping and “glamping” opportunities.

From their eco-design cottages to a modern treehouse to Creekside camping, there is something for everyone. You can tour the gardens, learn about Shiitake mushroom cultivation and see some unique ways they produce food here. Bring a book, relax by the creek, and enjoy some quiet time together.

The educational gourmet date night in Pensacola

Food is a great background for date night, but sometimes you want more than just a meal out. Pensacola Cooks Kitchen, located near the front gate of NAS Pensacola, offers date night cooking classes. You can sign up for one event or the “From Scratch” Baking Course for adults, which is a series of four classes.

Another option is So Gourmet, located on Palafox in downtown Pensacola. They offer some great wine pairings with appetizers meals and several “hands-on” classes that would really put some fun in your date night.

Enjoy the sunset date night

The beaches in Pensacola are absolutely stunning, especially with the glow of the sunset. There are several great places to enjoy dinner and then a walk on the beach, or pack your own food for a picnic. Head on down to Red Fish Blue Fish on Pensacola Beach for a casual, beachfront dining experience.

Built in the southern style, with wood planks from the old Coca-Cola factory in town, the idea of sourcing locally can be found in their décor and the food. Eat outside on the patio, sit with your toes in the sand, or eat inside if you desire. The atmosphere is relaxing and you’ll not want to leave!

I’m a huge fan of making the most of each and every place you live. Get out there and explore Pensacola with us! And when you're ready to explore beyond the panhandle, check out the daytrips to Alabama and Tallahassee in this article.
