PCSing is always challenging–whether you move yourself or work with military movers (TMO) to make it happen. This year is no exception. The 2021 moving season has been particularly challenging because of current labor shortages. With fewer movers and truck drivers, families are having difficulties scheduling a move about the dates on their PCS orders.
If you move yourself, you put in all the work and heavy lifting, then wait months for a reimbursement. If you use military movers, you are subject to multiple schedule changes or delays… all while crossing your fingers that your shipment comes in below your allotted weight limit so you don’t have to pay the overage charges.
And no matter how smoothly your move goes, you will probably spend at least a week living in hotels, then turn around and spend hundreds of dollars at The Home Depot once you get into your next house.
*sigh* I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could wave a wand and have someone handle your move for you… and you didn’t have to pay so much out of pocket?
For some military families, that dream is about to be possible!
PCSgrades has joined forces with Shyft, an AI-powered moving marketplace, in addition to The Home Depot and Radisson Hotels Americas to give away $60,000 in prizes! The grand prize will include a full-service (Do-it-Yourself or PPM) move, including packing, transporting, and unloading for a stateside to stateside PCS. Other prizes include $4,500 in gift cards courtesy of The Home Depot, along with 5 separate points package courtesy of Radisson Hotels America, each containing 300,000 points.
How can you win the PCS Contest?
It’s easy! We want to hear stories of your PCS experiences! And we want to gather your reviews of base housing, off-base neighborhoods, and moving companies to help other military families. When you visit our contest page, click the red button with “Enter to Win.” You’ll be prompted to login to PCSgrades (it’s free!) and to submit a review. You can review any base housing neighborhood you have lived in before, as well as off-base neighborhoods, apartments, and more.
Then you will be prompted to share your PCS story. Winners will be judged on their most memorable PCS stories, so tell us an experience that stands out to you! Share a PCS experience that is unique, funny, successful, inspiring, a learning experience, or just ridiculous. You can submit multiple stories, but each one must be accompanied by a unique review on PCSgrades. The stories should be 500 words or less. They will be judged on entertainment, inspirational, and emotional value, not spelling or grammar.

What are the prizes?
Two (2) Grand prize winners will receive a free full-service move from Shyft. Each grand prize winner will also receive 300,000 Radisson Rewards Americas points courtesy of Radisson Hotels Americas!
Two (2) winners will receive a $1,000 gift card from The Home Depot and each will also receive 300,000 Radisson Rewards Americas points courtesy of Radisson Hotels Americas.
5th Place will receive a $750.00 gift card courtesy of The Home Depot and also receive 300,000 Radisson Rewards Americas points courtesy of Radisson Hotels Americas.
6th Place will receive a $750.00 gift card courtesy of The Home Depot.
Two (2) winners will receive a $500 gift card from The Home Depot.
When will we know the contest winners?
The contest runs from August 15- August 31, so submit your reviews and your stories by the end of the month. A panel of judges will evaluate the entries and announce a winner on or around September 15. Judges for the contest are from notable military family organizations such as Blue Star Families, National Military Family Association (NMFA), Armed Forces Insurance (AFI) Military Spouse of the Year, Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN), R. Riveter, Sandboxx, and Moving with The Military TV.
What are the contest rules and details?
Grand prize winners must complete their PCS by March 15th, 2022.
Gift card winners must have completed a move within 6 months prior to award selection or will complete a move within 6 months after award selection.
Origination and destination locations must be within the 50 states and not to or from any destination outside the United States.
Moves to or from Hawaii and Alaska are limited to a total expense of $25,000. Any moving costs in excess of $25,000.00 will be at the winner’s sole expense.
Weight limits shall not exceed those established by the DoD. Any weight limits exceeding the maximum DoD thresholds shall be at the prize winner’s sole expense.
