Things to Do Near Fort Eisenhower: Your Fort Eisenhower Bucket List

If you have PCS orders to Fort Eisenhower, Georgia (formerly known as Fort Gordon), you're in for a good time. Fort Eisenhower is located near some great cities, including Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, and Charlotte, NC. But if you don’t want to travel far from post, there are some great options for family events and activities closer to home. Here is our “Bucket List” of fun activities and things to do near Fort Eisenhower.
The Master's Golf Tournament
If you have a golfer in the family, they will no doubt want to attend the annual Master’s Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Not only is it the hottest ticket in the golf world, it’s actually the most sought-after ticket in the entire sports world. A limited number of single-day practice-round and daily tournament passes are distributed each year by a lottery system determined via an online application.
These tickets go quickly. The secondary market, or resale market, can get pricey with single-day tickets costing into the thousands. Birdies for the Brave is a national military outreach initiative created by PGA TOUR player Phil Mickelson and his wife. The program is dedicated to honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families. You can check their website to see if tickets are available.
Woodrow Wilson Boyhood Home
Woodrow Wilson Boyhood Home, the oldest Presidential residence in the state, is a National Historic Landmark. This educational facility and historic attraction is located on 7th Street in the Augusta Downtown Historic District, just a short 20-minute drive from Fort Eisenhower. Visitors can learn all about the life of the 28th President, growing up as a boy in Georgia during the Civil War and Reconstruction. The home is owned and operated by Historic Augusta, Inc. and is open for guided tours Thursday-Saturday, with tours beginning on the hour at 10 AM and the last tour starting at 4 PM.

Augusta Museum of History
If you want to learn about the history of the area surrounding Fort Eisenhower and Augusta, the Augusta Museum of History is a great place to start. At seventy years old, the Augusta Museum of History is Augusta’s oldest historical agency devoted to the preservation and presentation of local and regional history. Phinizy Swamp Nature Park
Located just minutes from downtown Augusta, the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park offers 14 miles of biking and hiking trails, handicap-accessible boardwalks and paths, floodplain swamps, creeks, and constructed and natural wetlands. The park is free and open to the public 365 days a year from dawn until dusk.
The park provides guided hikes and other educational programs, including family activities such as camping weekends and an annual Earth Day Celebration. The Swamp Shop and Visitor Center are open on Saturdays from 10 AM – 5 PM and Sundays from 1 AM – 5 PM. Free parking is located at the Nature Park’s main entrance.
Signal Corps Museum
Looking for something closer to home? Located on Chamberlain Avenue on post at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia is the U.S. Army Signal Corps Museum. This historical and educational institution is centered on the history of the Signal Corps, Fort Eisenhower, and the U.S. Army. The museum is open Tues-Fri, 8 AM-4 PM. It is closed Sunday, Saturday, Monday, and federal holidays.
The Fort Eisenhower Dinner Theatre
The Fort Eisenhower Dinner Theatre is a professionally staffed community theatre offering year-round, high-quality, Broadway-style musicals, comedies, mysteries, and special attractions. Delicious buffet meals, free parking, and a state-of-the-art facility make an outing here a day to remember! The cast features talented military and civilian volunteers and backstage workers. Fort Eisenhower Outdoor Pool and Spray Park at the Courtyard
Open between May and September, this outdoor facility, located on Fort Eisenhower, features three aquatic animals, a helicopter, tumble buckets, and a toddler slide. Between the big pool and the spray park is a bell-shaped kiddie pool. Both pools have a beachfront entry that is great for small children. For the adults and older children, there is a three-story slide. The Pool and Spray Park is located on post at Brainard Avenue.
